Atonement

Atonement-The atonement is the key to the plan of salvation. With the atoning power of Christ we are free from sin and able to rejoin or Father in Heaven once again. The atonement is Christ’s suffering in the garden of Gethsemane, his crucifixion and suffering again on the cross, and his resurrection three day after his death. Each one of these acts plays an important role in our Fathers plan for us. Christ has suffered for our sins so that we can have the chance to repent and be cleansed. It is the only way, and he was the only one who could have performed it. Without the atonement, Gods plan for us would not be complete. We require a Savior and God has provided one for us. It is our responsibility to accept the sacrifice made on our behalf and to repent.

Alma 7:11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

Mosiah 4:6 I say unto you, if ye have come to a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of life, I mean the life of the mortal body-

Alma 34:8 And now, behold, I will testify unto you of myself that these things are true. Behold, I say unto you, that I do know that Christ shall come among the children of men, to take upon him the transgressions of his people, and that he shall atone for the sins of the world; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
